Compliance Officer



You will be responsible for compliance oversight of the activities of PAY-NXT, ensuring a strong compliance culture is embedded and creating and maintaining a controls framework that enables PAY-NXT to effectively manage its regulatory risk and support growth.

In this role you will work as a business partner, connecting with a wide range of teams in our organization, including Risk, Legal, Finance, Operations and Sales, and provide pragmatic advice and guidance to build sustainable growth to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.

The Compliance Function within PAY-NXT reports to the UnifiedPost Group Compliance Officer.

About the job

  • Proactively identify, assess and review compliance risks, based on financial and payments rules and regulations on a continuous basis;

  • Translate identified risks into a compliance monitoring program to be communicated and implemented across the business and ensuring appropriate controls are developed;

  • Assist the first line with designing and implementing policies & procedures to monitor the identified compliance risks;

  • Assist in the automation of first line monitoring and drive the automation of second line monitoring to enable data-driven reporting;

  • Investigate suspicious activities and report them to the Belgian Regulator in compliance with Belgian/European law;

  • Prepare annual regulatory reports on the Financial Crime framework for validation by the relevant stakeholders;

  • Implement various compliance codes and policies, such as the Code of Ethics, the Bribery Policy, the AML policy;

  • Define, operate and improve compliance related workflows and processes and raise compliance awareness through staff training.

Technical Skills

  • You have 5-8 years of experience in regulatory and/or second-line compliance functions; preferably in compliance monitoring or regulatory risk management;

  • Good working knowledge of AML/CTF and Economic Sanctions legislation including AMLD IV and a solid understanding of PCI/DSS, GDPR, and other compliance frameworks;

  • Your knowledge of the finance and/or payment industry is well established;

  • You have experience in analyzing data and automating complex data handling;

  • You have solid interpersonal skills and you are able to connect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from varying disciplines and cultures;

  • Fluent (oral and written) in English, as well as Dutch or French.
